Collection of diaries, correspondence, sermons, legal documents, autographs, genealogies, and ephemera of Aaron Ladner Lindsley, Presbyterian missionary in Wisconsin, New York, Oregon, and Alaska, and pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Portland, Oregon; his wife Julia West Lindsley; daughter Emily Lindsley Ross, author and genealogist; son-in-law James Thorburn Ross, Portland attorney, banker, Realtor, and promoter; and other members of the Lindsley, Ross, Thorburn, and Halsey families. Of particular interest are: Emily Lindsley Ross's autograph book containing signatures of prominent people and celebrities, 1907-1930; an extensive file of love letters written to her by her future husband James, 1888-1889; and a notebook of ancestor William Henderson, begun in London in 1773. Also included are files on James Thorburn Ross's court cases and pardon, 1907-1913; and a diary of Aaron L. Lindsley, 1835-1876, relating to his missionary work.
